Fisher Price Toy Recalls

Fisher Price, Inc., along with its parent company Mattel, Inc. have recalled almost 1 million toys after the discovery that the paint used to paint and decorate the toys, contains excessive amounts of lead.

The worldwide recall contains 83 types of toys including these popular characters – Big Bird, Elmo, Dora and Diego. This is the first recall by Fisher Price, Inc and Mattel, Inc. involving lead paint. Under current regulations in place by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, any products that contain more than .06 percent lead are subject to recall.

Fisher Price, Inc. has a long standing relationship with the Chinese vendor who is responsible for using the lead paint. After such a massive recall, they are re-evaluating their relationship along with safety measures and procedures.

China is responsible for 70-80 percent of all toys that are sold in the United States.

Luckily, Fisher Price was able to recover two thirds of the toys before they hit store shelves. The other third were either already on the shelves, or in the homes of little ones.

If your child has suffered product injuries from any of the defective toys, please call for your free consultation with a defective toy lawyer at the The Louthian Firm Accident & Injury Lawyers. We will help answer your questions and determine if we can handle your case. As a consumer, it is your responsibility to hold negligence parties responsible for your injuries.
